Today my friend said something interesting...

My friend, an engineering student, was telling me the reason he despised the existence of plastic surgeons.

According to him, plastic surgeons are not doing the world a favour. People who sought plastic surgery are usually people who are relatively less good looking. Going through plastic surgery would help better their looks, if the surgery is successful. He said that, this would mean less good looking people would be naturally selected and their not-so-good-looking genes would be passed on. Human would be, in ugly words, uglier.

(of course, he was just joking, but he has a point)

I came to two conclusions: -

1) If looks were such a determinant in the process of natural selection, bad looking people would long have been extinct. Facial features contribute to looks and they are what's being passed down. What we are left with are then people who have acceptable and 'good' facial features, since 'bad' features would be extinct.
In other words, everyone is somewhat, already 'good' looking, (because the combination of 'good' facial features will also determine who is even better looking)

If everyone was already 'good' looking, then why need plastic surgeons? People must be unsatisfied with their looks, and have already forgotten that they already have a certain degree of 'good' look, even if they are relatively less good looking.

2) It could be that looks were never a determinant for natural selection in the first place.

1) or 2)? What do you think?

Read the link!

http://xiaxue.blogspot.com/2012/05/faces-of-haters.html

Was too stunned for words after reading her blog. I have heard of this blogger who's from Singapore, the land of the lion. Today was the first time I read her blog. Well, I can tell you that Xiaxue is one lioness no one should ever mess with.

She and her friends received attacks from the opposition supporters on facebook; People are calling them  (xiaxue and friends) prostitutes in their pictures, because they supported the present ruling party. She defended herself with style, and I salute to her bold, don't-bloody-mess-with-me attitude.

Once again, I am reminded that Malaysia's election would be coming.
And I pray sincerely for the country's future, the people, and it's development.

One more week till exam!

Sitting at the other end of the cafe is one of the prettiest girl I have seen.

Been burrying my face in notes, sucking on my straw-to-ice-water when I looked up and saw a sweet mature looking girl whose height was slightly shorter than mine, sitting down with her family. The cafe which I was in had cushioned seats like in the comedy 'How I met your mother'. At that time I probably had the best seat to stalk her because she was seated facing my direction, with little people in between.

tall, not petite,
elegant, no make-up,
slightly tanned, not very fair,
bright eyes, charming smile.

Definitely not from around here, I've never seen her before

I like this cafe.

exams are here!

Exams are coming for me in a few weeks time and will end on the last day of May.
So holidays will begin on the 1st of Jun.

Then it's the season for meeting friends who are back from UK or US for their breaks! Not to mention the three months of break.

The sky is always brighter when you have something to look forward to.
